The GOGIRA System: An Innovative Method for Landslides Digital Mapping

Landslide mapping techniques have had many improvements in recent decades, the main field of development has been on traditional cartographic and to a lesser extent indirect numerical cartography. As for Direct Numerical Cartography (DNC), only few made due complexity economic cost new technologies. To meet this lack DNC GOGIRA (Ground Operative-system GIS Input Remote-data Acquisition), system following (Geographic Information System) scheme, was developed. It is suite hardware software tools, algorithms, procedures easier cheaper DNC. Initial tests conducted Quincinetto landslide (north-western Italy) demonstrated good results terms morphometric coherence precision. A geomorphological map with compared highly detailed developed modern tested methods. In conclusion proved be valid when applied complex system, considering early stage developing linear point excellent, as polygonal elements more studies must improve accuracy
